[The party has stopped for the day - earlier than usual, or at least so it feels to Therion, who burns with restlessness. He would rather keep going - maybe even through the night. The stars know he's been sleeping even worse than usual lately, if he sleeps at all, so maybe the extra exhaustion of it all would help him finally find some measure of quiet. Alas, it was not to be. Half the group was still nursing injuries from recent misadventures, and even those with naught more than bruises were sagging. And yet somehow H'aanit and Linde still found the energy to head out on a hunt with a promise to Alfyn that Linde would be sent back to fetch him if they stumbled across any promising patches of noxroot or sleepweed to refill his nigh-exhausted stores. He'd go himself, of course, but examining and tending to the others' injuries while they still had daylight to spare took precedence.

Therion keeps himself busy with camp set-up - at least, as much as he could without pulling too much on the newly-mended flesh across his ribs. But it's not enough. It doesn't take that long, and then he's left at loose ends again. None of his usual ways to pass the time are enough, and all at once, as he catches Olberic giving him another fucking thoughtful stare when he thinks the thief isn't looking, like he somehow thinks he has the right to figure anything out just because he-- Therion decides he's had enough of camp.

But going off on his own would undoubtedly prompt someone to follow him, so instead he makes the questionable decision of approaching Cyrus. Before everything had gone to hell in a hand-basket in Stonegard and Wellspring, they'd agreed on a trade. A trade of trades, as the professor had called it: Therion walked Cyrus through a few basic thief skills, and Cyrus helped Therion get a bit more consistent with his magic in turn. Simple enough. Maybe it was about time to get that going again. For all that he was a nosy bastard with a sharp eye for detail and an even sharper memory, Cyrus was also the most fucking oblivious man Therion had ever met when it came to certain things in the emotion department. Plus, he was easy enough to side track on a tangent. Therion would have to hope that would be enough.

So, up to the esteemed scholar he goes, crossing his arms.]

You up for a bit of teaching, Professor? [He has no fucking clue what he's going to do if Cyrus says, 'No.' But even so, he'll be damned before he lets his voice sound anything but casual. Off-hand. Like he's just bored, and this'll do as well as just about anything.] Figured we're overdo for another lesson.

[ there's some kind of... event... happening at [generic murdergame] today. despite all of the death and destruction that's gone on for weeks, the Overlords of MG have decided everyone needs to dress up pretty that the people who are stuck here deserve a bit of celebration.

it's not that therion is against a celebration. does he really have anything to celebrate? not really. does he like to drink? absolutely. is being stuck in one place kind of stifling? definitely. is he planning on dressing up?

.... well, no. except for the fact that he's standing in the [generic murdergame of your choice]'s infinite closet, arms folded, frowning up at the incredibly large selection. he hasn't noticed you yet, apparently. ]

Ugh.

③ generic mg: cyoa returns

[ getting spit out of a choose your own adventure is not fun for anyone. therion is bleeding. he knows that much - he's bleeding in a lot of places. there's a stab wound in his gut that just aches, and he's got his arm tossed over it as he grits his teeth and makes his way to a sitting upright position. blood runs down his face underneath his bangs, too: insult to fucking injury.

his companions for this choose your own adventure were not exactly his allies. no. tasked to kill and betray each other, because what else is new - for therion, who has so, so tentatively gotten to build his bonds, this was catastrophic in terms of his development. he's like a skittish cat, and that means one thing: he needs time to lick his wounds.

so he does not ask for help, or even pay attention to people starting to arrive on the scene. in fact, he gets up, past the body (he thinks) of one of the people (he knows) he killed to get out of there alive, and he starts walking, making a beeline to get Away.

unfortunately, he's injured badly enough that he can't get away very quickly... and he's leaving an unsteady trail of blood behind him. maybe catch him while you can. ]

[ let's be honest - a bad cyoa was always in the cards for rondo. not just because of the psychological implications of it all, but the physical, too. he's gotten rather used to the healing words of people like rinyuu, or even eliza, but here, magical healing isn't exactly par for the course.

he's settled up in the medical area of this generic murdergame setting, lying in a bed. rondo's expression is a little hard to read, his brow furrowed, eyes closed, but when he hears footsteps, he makes a little noise and starts trying to push himself up on his forearms, which is such a mistake. ]

Oh - ow, ow. [ the !!! at being addressed is first, which then immediately melts into a look a bit like a scolded puppy, sheepish as he realizes that he's been caught misbehaving. rondo then tries to plaster a smile back onto his face properly. ] ... Hi.

[ admittedly, rondo is a little bit of a fish out of water at this wild generic murdergame party, but he seems to be enjoying himself all the same. he's generally pretty social, and besides, the topics of these games are pretty fun? being a knight makes you kind of a frat boy. at any rate, he's got a drink in his hand he's barely touched, and when the conversation comes around to him, rondo looks very thoughtful before he snaps his fingers. ]

Ah, alright, alright! I've got it. Two truths and a lie, right? I've been fully engulfed in flame before, I grew up wealthy, and I'm a younger brother!

[ look at him. he's so excited. one of the things on this list was so concerning. ]

③ the superhell edition: curses

[ speaking of parties. they're supposed to be getting ready for this match with satan and that involves drinking a lot of... very strange drinks... and though rondo is no heavyweight, he has got to make sure he makes it out of here.

anyway because of that, he is TRAINING!!! and by training i mean he's trying out different drinks. three options. ]

a. barking puppy.
[ health of mind: You lose your brain-to-mouth filter. Confess your every feeling, sin, or idle thought.

oh, this drink... it's lemony and tasty, and rondo smacks his lips together thoughtfully after it's done. as conversation moves on around him, he continues sipping at the drink, trying to keep an eye on its contents and stay sober. but at some point, he just blurts out- ]

You know, the last time I went through Hell, it was certainly not as colorful as this, and I was lucky to be with my companions, but I think I vastly prefer it like this. Is that bad...? It's not, right...?

b. actual puppy

the second drink choice gets rondo to make a little bit of a confused face after he's finished it, looking down at the glass. ]

... This is just milk...?

[ unbenknownst to him, there are now a pair of golden retriever ears perched on the top of his head. hmmm. ]

c. sad puppy

[ muistojakaa: after drinking, you recall a fond memory from the past. But it makes you sad, because those times are gone forever. You also feel compelled to tell the person next to you about that bittersweet moment.

the third drink is served to him in a teacup - rondo looks a little surprised when he drinks it, but he downs it and perks up a little as he does. warm, comforting, and familiar... that's a cup of tea with a little milk and sugar and honey made by heathcote, alright. it tastes just like it, and he can't help himself, letting out a little sigh and cradling the delicate porcelain cup carefully in his hands.

as he finishes the third drink, his usual smile disappears, mouth pulling downwards into a soft, sad looking frown. for a moment, he eyes the cup, the delicate blue and purple decorations around the fine china...

after a long moment, he sets the cup down and lifts a hand to rub over his face. so much for that cheer from earlier. ]

secret option ④ a little house visit after a fun little jaunt through hell

[A purple shadow slinks past the guards at the gates of Ravus Manor and creeps carefully through the gardens, timing his movements perfectly with the patrols. He (probably) doesn't need to sneak past them - however begrudging it may be, he's been here often enough they should know him on sight - but it's the principle of the matter. Pride in his skills as a thief or a bit of fun or testing the security as an unasked-for favor for the old butler or ... something.

Truthfully, Therion doesn't know why he's bothering to go about this the stealthy way except that he saw an opportunity in the arrival of a shipment of supplies of some sort or other, and he just couldn't resist. So here he is, sneaking into Ravus Manor. Just like old times.

A scan of the windows tells him one on the second floor is ajar, no doubt to let in the cool evening breeze. And if he remembers the layout right, that's the window to Cordelia's study. Perfect. Time for a quick climb.

If anyone asks, Therion isn't doing this because he cares even the slightest bit about Cordelia Ravus and how she's doing after, well, everything. He's definitely not doing this because he thinks she probably deserves to know what was done with those stones of hers while they were missing, nor because she ought to maybe be given her father's message from beyond the grave. And he's certainly not here to make sure the Dragonstones are still safe because no one should ever fucking open that door again.

No, if anyone asks, he's here because he's just passing through, and maybe a few sociable impulses have rubbed off on him after spending so long traveling with a bunch of weirdos. A normal reason to be breaking and entering.

With a soft huff, Therion finally heaves himself up the last bit of fancy molding (without looking down - one story is not that far, but it's still - no looking down) and onto the window sill, smirking as he sees a light left on the desk along with an inkwell, pen, and a stack of papers. Cordelia must've just stepped away, he presumes.

So (after the softest knock), he hops down from the sill (right foot first) and saunters over, flopping down into the chair and kicking one leg up over an armrest to wait. He pulls an apple out of one of his many hidden pockets and inspects it for any bruising before taking a bite.

Worst case, Heathcote'll come in, and that'll probably suck because Therion definitely does not want to talk about The Gates of Finis and.... all of that with him (not that he particularly wants to talk about it with Cordelia either, but, well...). He isn't too worried even if that does happen, though. His luck has been pretty good so far this evening. Surely that'll continue, right?]

[ wow, welcome to (generic murdergame and/or jamjar setting)! the first week in these sort of things is always a touch awkward, but the ever so kind hosts have decided that bonding with drinks is the way to go. and who can really complain about that?

certainly not stead. despite his - well, despite his clothing, which nearly screams man of the cloth (at least from orsterra, anyway), he's kicked back in a chair, one leg crossed over the other, holding a glass filled with some kind of amber liquid in his left hand and letting the ice clink against the side as he swirls it.

he looks thoughtfully at his companion, at the people around the room and what they're being encouraged to do, and then smiles, mischievous. ]

This game is called... what was it now? 'Never have I ever.' [ stead sounds out each word there, a little emphasis. ] You'll have to teach me how to play - I'm afraid I'm not familiar.
